To Sub...or Not to Sub

That is the question?!?  Today I substituted for the first time.  I was kind of excited, I mean who wouldn't want to walk into a classroom already prepared with plans...meet with kids all day...then say "See ya!" (well in my mind at least), as I'm walking out the door?!?!? 

I have to be honest, it was quite an exhausting day!  I had to do the Star Lab with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.  This requires teaching about "what we do NOT do in the star dome"...things like yelling, hitting, rolling around, etc.  What you think they SHOULD know is not necessarily what they plan to do.

Then I had to do sound experiments with Kinders, 1st and 2nd graders.  I have a new appreciation for Kindergarten teachers after today.  Twenty kids wiggling...asking for food (during science)...crawling under the tables...talking about nothing related to what I'm teaching.  I felt like I was in this scene of Kindergarten Cop.

Not sure where I'll be or who I'll be working with next time...if there is a next time *wink*.

PS...this is one of my favorite movies ever!!!
