The Tink-Tink Reunion!!!

We just finished Trick-or-treating and truly only made it down the block, around, and back home. Kelsey was quite excited to see all the kids out with their costumes. She gave hugs to almost anything her size...this included another Tink, the boy across the street (born same week as K), the dog that knocked her over (no wounds), and last but not least another little boy dressed as a monkey.

Ready to go!!!

The Tink Reunion...we will try to stop saying "ahhhh!!" all the time...oh dear!

She knew exactly what to do when we went to get candy...go up with her Halloween bag, snatch the candy out of the persons hand and shove it in her bag!!! I think its from all the "carrying a purse" practice at home. Soooo funny! Can't wait to see everyone elses costumes!

Eating her candy...well trying to!
Helping Dad pass out candy!
Warming up with Mom!
Happy Halloween!

The State Fair

We went to the NC State Fair last weekend. We couldn't make it to the pumpkin patch because of the rain...so the following day we made plans to visit the overcrowded fairgrounds. It was rather chilly outside, but we had a good time. Kelsey wanted to walk EVERYWHERE (without holding our hands of course), so we unfortunately had to carry her a lot. She loved the animals the most, especially the cows and baby chicks. She probably could have spent the entire day staring at them. We made sure to eat an elephant ear before we left...I mean isnt' that what the fair is for anyways?!?! The food!?!?! Here are some pics from that afternoon:

About to pass out on the way home!
My sweet little cutie pie!

I'm at it again...

I created a website (blog) for my class and they LOVE it (or maybe just seeing themselves on the internet)! Thought I would share. Click BuchananStars!!!

Flu Vacation

It has been awhile since I've written only because that little pesky thing called the FLU has taken over our household the past few weeks. Kelsey had it first about 2 weeks ago, then I had it this week...and JON...well he's on flu meds so he won't get it ;) I have never missed this many school days in a row for being sick...I used to save them for mental health days. I guess once you have a kid you don't get those anymore?!?!

Last weekend, Kelsey and I went down to Rockingham to see Grandma and Cindy...and everyone else of course. It was Jacob's 2nd birthday...lots of cake, presents and hyper children..a teacher's worst nightmare ;)

Kelsey slept throught all the singing, screaming, and laughing. How she did it...I'll never know. Here's a picture of Kelsey giving Uncle Warren big BEAR hugs.

Kelsey is trying her best to talk. She loves to point at things and say "this" or "that"...mostly our fault because we often say, "Do you want this?" or "Look at that!" So now we are practicing calling things by their names...which we should have done all along I guess...beginners luck! Here is K eating breakfast:

Another thing she likes to do now is bob her head when she hears music...evidence is below:

On the way to Grandma's, Kelsey was rather antsy and was pretty tired of sitting still after an hour, so I started tell her to "Go to sleep" and to my surprise this is what she did....smart as a whip I tell ya! Please ignore the annoying Halloween music in the background ;)

Her 15 month check up was on October 5th...I know...too long ago. But here are her new updated measurements:

Length: 29.75 (35%)

Weight: 19 lbs. and 10.5 oz. (10%) AHHHHH!

Head Circumference: 45.25 (35%)

I don't know how we're going to put some weight on this little one?!?! She's a picky eater that's for sure.

We were hoping to go to the fair this week, but between all the sicknesses, not sure if we're going to make it this year. Tomorrow, Jon, Kelsey and I are going to go to the pumpkin patch! Can't wait...Kelsey's first! Yay! Pictures coming...

Best Buddies

Since we've been homebound for a few days...Kelsey and Sammy have started "bonding" more. I never thought the day would come where Sammy would let Kelsey sit next to her and actually touch her without jumping up, hissing and wacking her before she takes off....awwww!

Flu, Flu...Go Away!

Kelsey has had the flu since Sunday and has given us quite the scare. Early Tuesday morning, around 2:45 am, Kelsey woke up screaming at the top of her lungs. I ran into her bedroom, picked her up, only to feel her extremely hot body. I yelled for Jon, who immidiately ran to get medicine and water. I quickly took her temperature and she had 105.2 degree temperature. She was also shaking...so we ran back upstairs, put her in a cool bath, threw on some clothes, put her in a diaper and drove to the Wake Med emergency room.
It took about 20 minutes before they would even see us...are you kidding me?!?! By then her temperature had gone down to the high 103's. She was so miserable, you could just look at her flushed, poofy face to see it. Hours later...yes I said it... "hours" later the doctor finally made it in to do a check up. Her temperature was down in the 101's by this time. I definitely had no patience and was so disappointed in the time management at Wake Med.
Anyways, all they gave her was Tylenol and sent us on our way. Kelsey is recupperating slowly. She is still very sleepy all the time and has started hitting her head...as if she might have some sort of headache. Poor baby! We will not be sending her to daycare this week. We just want her to get better so we can see her sweet little smile again, get back to work and our daily routines. Hang in there sweetie-pie!

10 Year High School Reunion!!!

This weekend was my 10 year reunion in Southern Pines, NC. I was so fortunate that my in-laws were able to take care of Kelsey for the weekend because this was no weekend for a 1 year old ;) It all began on Friday evening...I rode with Sarah and Chris (Jon had to work the next day) to Sarah's parents house in SP. We were running a little late, so Sarah was able to make up some time with her wild driving, pedal-to-the-medal skills! Sarah's parents took us all out to dinner. It was nice getting to know the Upchurch's! What an outgoing bunch!

The next morning, we (Sarah, Chris and I) went to The O'Neal School Brunch/Tour. We ended up getting there 15 minutes late and everyone was already mingling. Lots of parents were there, babies, spouses...and of course alumni. I thought I was going to be out of control nervous, but once I saw everyone, it was as if we never separated. We all fell right back into our roles. While we were eating breakfast, we got to catch up on the "Where do you live? and What are you doing now?" discussions.

The tour was awesome! Our school has completely torn down and upgraded. There is only one building (the middle school) that still remains. Back in 1999, we went to classes in trailers. Now, the school has a theater, 2 side by side basketball courts, larger and advanced classrooms....the list just goes on and on. I think we all left thinking, "I wish ours kids could go here one day!"

Afterwards, we all headed to lunch and then to the farm. The boys watched football (of course) and Sarah and I rode on the Gator...I told ya'll about her driving earlier ;) Needless to say, we had a really good laugh on that thing!Once Jon arrived, it was time to get ready for the nights festivities!!! I had a code red shirt emergency, but Laurel was able to save the day for me! We ended up at Ironwood and ate dinner under the canopy area. It took forever for the food to get out, so we were able to hang out more with alumni who hadn't made it to brunch that morning. Here are some pictures from throughout the night:

And here's the Class of 1999!!!
