Ashlyn's ER Visit

From the beginning...3 kids from daycare suddenly had a bad case of the croup.  I knew it would be a matter of time before Kelsey or Ashlyn would get it...so I was prepared for the phone call, which I received 3 days later (which was last Tuesday).  Ashlyn had 102 F fever and had to be picked up from daycare.  Being the cautious person I am, I decided to take her straight to the doctor, because I knew she was bound to have the croup, even though all she had was a fever at that time.  Long story short, Doc listened to her, checked a few other things, and decided her lungs were "clear" and she had no symptoms of the croup.

Baby monitors were plugged back in and immediately used that night (and a few nights afterwards).

She was fine the next day, still running a fever, but was acting pretty normal.  Then...Thursday morning around 2 am, Ashlyn coughed. Jon went in and picked her up and sounds came out of her that I never have heard in my entire life. Reading about the croup the past few days in pamphlets and on the Internet, I was well versed in all Croup vocabulary.  Ashyln began barking (coughing) like a seal (stridor).  We immediately though on some clothes and rushed out the door to the ER.

They knew exactly what was wrong when they saw her and heard her stridor.  After a breathing treatment (which she def did not like) and some steroids, she rested for a few hours and was a little bit better...enough for us to go home.  Super Mom to the rescue!!!  Well I'd like to think that's how it went ;-)

She is doing much better now 4 days later.  It's taken a few days for her regain her appetite (did I mention she also has 6 teeth coming in...ugh).  Here are some sickly pics of my little snuggle bug (I know...mean Mom taking pics of sick baby).  You can just see it in her face :(
