Kelsey...Our FOUR Year Old!

Our Dearest Kelsey,

This year has flown by since you're little sister arrived.  I can't believe you are already 4 years-old!!!  Wow!!! We have loved watching you take on your Big Sis role by protecting, loving and playing with your little sis.  Your relationship with Ashlyn cracks us up sometimes!  When you talk to her, you raise your voice in a high squeal (kind of like your mommy) and tell Ashlyn what she should or should not be doing.  She smiles every time you do this and comes running just to be with you.  You have always been a sweet helper in getting all those things Mommy or Daddy needs, but just can't get to.  Ashlyn is so lucky to have you as her Big Sis!

Right now, you've been really into Hello Kitty.  Not sure if its because it's your birthday party theme or because it's at EVERY single store we walk into, but you are the first to point out all the Hello Kitty stuff we "needed" for your party. 

You have been working all year on your letters.  You can write almost all your capital letters on your own and in the correct way. Mrs. Judy has worked really hard on teaching you how to color in the lines, and sometimes I think you color better than I do now.  You are so talented and extremely creative.  You love to draw and paint and you tell us exactly what your drawing and make up little stories to go with them.

You are quite the interrogator now.  Not only do you inquire about what we're doing, where are we going, who's going to be there, but then once we give you an answer, the follow-up question is ALWAYS, "Why?"  Sometimes we become stumped because that's a pretty thoughtful answer to create.  For example, a few days ago, here is how our conversation went while I was making dinner:

You: Where are you making?
Me: Some corn on the cobb to go with dinner.
You: Why? 
Me:  Because its a vegetable.
You: Why?
Me: Because vegetables are good for you.
You: Why?
Me: Because I said so. (best answer ever and used quite often ;)

Going to the pool is one of your favorite things to do this summer.  You are really trying to learn how to swim.  You'll kick your legs, do some sort of hand dance underwater, but never manage to do both at the same time.  We have swimming lessons in a few weeks.  I'm sure 2 weeks of hardcore training will have you swimming like an Olympic swimmer in no time....right?!?!

Dresses are your favorite thing to wear.  You will twirl and twirl just so we can see how "pretty" your dresses are.  You definitely are a fashionista.  Accessorizing with hair bows, shoes, bracelets and necklaces...and usually they all match.  It's super cute...but I'm sure once you get a wee bit older...super pricey.  Daddy...start saving up *wink.*

I love that you enjoy reading.  We read almost every night.  You prefer we reread books over and over until you've memorized them or at least memorized your favorite parts.  Right now we are reading a Care Bear series practicing short vowel sounds.  I can tell you want to know how to read because you are starting to point to words and ask what they say.  Soon, you'll be reading up a storm in no time!

Family is very important to you!  You are extremely caring and you want to know what everyone is doing, when we are going to see them, if you can call them, etc. You are their biggest fan and they are forever on your mind! 

You are a dancer!  Listening to music and making up a "groovy" dance to go with it is what you do ALL the time (in the car, in your room, around the house, in our front yard).  Ashlyn has picked up some pretty sweet moves from watching you wiggle and bounce everywhere.  My favorite times are sitting with Dad and watching you two dance.  We can laugh for hours! 

We asked you a few questions so we can remember all the sweet things you enjoy in life (we'll be asking you these questions every year).
